Nationwide subbotnik held in Belarus

By Yakov Buta: The top officials of the Belarusian state went to the building sites on Saturday. Alexander Lukashenko himself joined the landscaping of the National Emblem Square. Everybody was working: members of the Council of Ministers, students, doctors, deputies and businessmen. Even many entrepreneurs joined the action. This voluntary work helped to draw 53bn rubles. The participants of the action were laying granite tile, landscaped the greens and planted trees. All members of the Presidential Administration led by Andrey Kobiakov were working as well. The officials joined the reconstruction of Dinamo stadium. In 4 month Belarus will get a modern arena corresponding to all UEFA requirements. PM Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed the importance of the action noting that all officials received individual assignments. The members of the House of Representatives were planting red oaks in Frunzensky District. Representatives of the Youth Union, White Rus movement and the Communist Party of Belarus were working in the squares. Representatives of 20 private companies joined public works in Grodno. Individual entrepreneurs also made financial contributions to the state budget. A company in Grodno transferred 45 million rubles in honor of subbotnik. Over 3.5 million Belarusians took part in this nationwide action. The country earned 45bn rubles, which will be spent on procurement of reanimobiles and preparation of children's camps to new summer season.
