Few days left till climax of election campaign

8 октября 2015

The results of the third day of early voting will be announced later. But we already know that nearly 11 percent of voters have made their choice on the first two days. Most people voted in the Gomel region. In general, the election campaign is calm, though some domestic observers were deprived of accreditation. This was stated today by secretary of the CEC Nikolai Lozovik. Incidents are characteristic for domestic observers. International observers work constructively.

More than 37 000 domestic and 800 foreign observers work in Belarus now. The largest delegations are from the CIS and the OSCE. By the way, these organizations have submitted their interim reports. According to the CEC, CIS observers have no serious remarks, while the representatives of the OSCE ODIHR say about certain violations and cite anonymous sources.

Observers from the OSCE have a mixed attitude to early voting. However, it is a worldwide practice when voters can make their choice in advance. By the way, in some states of America voting begins 2.5 months before the official election day. So, Barack Obama voted early too. Obviously, the observers should have a common approach in assessing elections. Early voting is necessary for those who can not come to the polling station on the day of elections for objective reasons.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Belarus Vladimir Vashchenko made his choice today. On October 11, many emergency workers will be on duty.

Early voting will be held for two more days. Polling stations are open from 10.00 to 19.00 with a two-hour break from 14.00 to 16.00. On Sunday, those who can not come to a polling station for health reasons can inform the Precinct Commission. Its representatives and observers will come to the voter’s place. After all, every vote is important and must be heard.
