The West has never regarded Belarus as a partner, only as a vassal. Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh shared this opinion in the program "Editors' Club" on TV channel "Belarus 1," BelTA informs.
"The President's appeal was addressed not only to the leadership of Ukraine. It was a clear signal to the leadership of NATO. It was a very simple and clear idea: the Belarusians will never start it first, but if you do, it will be an ontological conflict. We will stand to the last man. This was a message that excludes any manipulation. It's clear and straightforward. You can't say, "We didn't understand that. It means that if somebody breaks this red line, they will be solely responsible. This is the main thing in the statement," said Andrei Savinykh.
According to him, all talks about the balance of Belarus in relations with Russia and the West are a myth. "The Western metropolis has tried to some extent to reduce the level of resistance of a large number of countries, not only Belarus. The West has built a hierarchical world. It consumes the global material, financial and human resources. Cognitive technologies, myths of cooperation, myths of some kind of interaction have been used to prevent us from resisting. All this was done to reduce the level of resistance so that we didn't see a way out of the real problem. And it worked well. But over time, all the contradictions came out. The West has never seen us as partners - only vassals," concluded Andrei Savinykh.
