28 июня 2022

An important milestone for graduates of Belarusian universities. They have their whole lives ahead of them and new heights. They deserve recognition and encouragement. Today the best graduates of higher educational establishments are invited to a celebration in Minsk.

Times change, but traditions remain - the generation of the future was personally congratulated by the President. Alexander Lukashenko urged young people to be goal-oriented, faithful to the homeland, preserve the traditions of their land and honor the history. This will be not just a way to preserve the nation, but also to enhance the role of Belarus in the global dialogue. A lot of words of gratitude were said to those who brought up this generation - teachers and parents.

Head of State opens National Graduate Prom

Alexander Lukashenko confesses, it is a pleasure for him to be close to promising boys and girls. The President is proud of everyone!

"You have a whole life ahead of you," Alexander Lukashenko said to the graduates.  I do not know whether it's good or bad, but it began at an era of global, tectonic changes. Before your eyes, before our eyes, a new world is being born, the old one is collapsing. In this tumultuous process, Belarus is still an island of calm, but it is being rocked on the waves of the global storm. It depends on us where this storm is going to take all of us.

According to the head of state, young, ambitious and self-confident people need such a challenge. "Because everything associated with risks is also a huge opportunity. For you, they are primarily associated with personal and professional development. For the country as a whole, no matter where the world swings, the task is to integrate into this new model, not to remain on the sidelines. Strengthen your government position in the international arena," said the President.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that young people play the most important role in this process. The future is definitely yours.

The sustainability of our economy tomorrow depends on them. What kind of Belarus will be on the world stage is also up to them. The President has no doubt that the guys will make it. Their love for their native land, their caring attitude to their traditions and history will guarantee not only preservation of the nation but also enhancement of Belarus' role in the global dialogue.

President to graduates: the task is to build a new model

The head of state noticed that each generation goes through its own trials: some went through revolutions, while the parents of graduates, like the President, went through a difficult 1990.

"These tests in the 1990s, mid-1990s, when our major empire, the Soviet Union, collapsed, we became a sovereign and independent state overnight. There were very difficult times. The journalists often show you on TV when people were standing in kilometer-long lines to buy a piece of bread. There was no time to think about sausage. We, the older generation, survived that time and thought that you, our children, would live in a completely different world. But no, look, time has thrown these trials to you, too," said Alexander Lukashenko.

"We overcame these trials, smelling, tasting and feeling the times and said: "No, you can't live like that. And you, on the contrary, should keep peaceful and calm Belarus and say: "We will live this way and even better."

Alexander Lukashenko reminded: whatever trials life throws at you, you can always rely on the older generation and their experience!

The President said to the graduates: learn from others' mistakes

The head of state is convinced that the graduates are well aware of what they want to achieve and the heights to reach. "But remember one thing: do it on your native soil. Some of you think it's easier and better there. Learn from other people's mistakes. Ask those there how they are doing. Then make your own steps. In general, try it, take your time. Try it here. If really, excuse me, I'm sorry, force me, go there - will have something to compare with. But at the same time, I often say this, do everything in time. Do today, tomorrow what you have to do today, tomorrow, because the day after tomorrow you will be caught up in the storm, and it will be hard to cope with it. And it is desirable that you have already gone your way yesterday, the day before yesterday and today, so that tomorrow will be easier. I am convinced that you know well how to go and where to go. I wish you to have enough knowledge and strength, courage to overcome the challenges that time throws at us," said the President.

Lukashenko presented letters of commendation to the best teachers and graduates

Sincere words were said to everyone: thanks to teachers, for their hard work and patience, although their nerves must have been at their limit at times. A parting word for the graduates on their way to adulthood.

Our history is rich with events and heroes. In this hall, there may also be those who will leave their mark for centuries.

The rich experience of our people is that very bridge between the past, present and future. This is what today's graduation lesson is about the lesson of caring for the heritage.
