The falsification of history and suppression of facts has become the norm in the countries of the collective West. In many countries people are already forbidden to go out on May 9. Monuments to Soviet soldiers are being bulldozed.
Myths and legends have replaced historical facts and eyewitness accounts. The historical revisionism has become part of state policy in the countries of the collective West. Methodical work on substitution of notions is carried out, the boundary of the permitted and readiness to taste the next portion of information slop. Initially we were told that the struggle was not against fascism or Nazism, but against the totalitarian Hitler regime.
Thus, the main evil, against which fought during the Great Patriotic War, is defined as a totalitarian regime, rather than the idea of racial superiority.
One of the monstrous attempts to substitute the meanings was the decision of the Latvian parliament to approve the 9th of May as the day of memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine. The adopted law stipulates that on this day, which coincides with the day, when Victory Day was widely celebrated in Latvia, mass entertainment and festivities are prohibited. Local governments will not be able to issue permits for such events. Fireworks will also be banned on May 8 and 9.
By implanting these ideas, they try to convince us that celebrating Victory Day is shameful.
Laying flowers at monuments, honoring veterans and salutes are exposed as an unnecessary waste of money. They try to make May 9 an ordinary historical date in the textbook with not more than one paragraph. And it really works. Thanks to Hollywood movies, more than one generation in the West is sincerely convinced that Hitler was defeated by Americans, while the Soviet Union was no lesser evil and a threat to the civilized world.
The absurdity of the situation is that monuments built in honor of their own countrymen are being bulldozed and sledgehammered.
For several years in Latvia they try to destroy the monument to the soldiers-liberators in Uzvaras park. It was built on voluntary donations from ordinary citizens in honor of soldiers of the 130th Latvian Riflemen's Corps. In 2021 they tried to declare it an illegal building. That year the City Development Department of Riga City Council in its conclusion decided that "the technical condition of the monument had deteriorated and it had become unsafe for people. As a result, the monument was surrounded by a fence with warning notices. If the citizens of Riga let this happen, the monument will be torn down. Five years ago under the same pretext, the monument to Soviet sailors was already destroyed in Latvia.
We remember whose flag was raised over the Reichstag on May 1, 1945
History, which is written in the blood of our relatives, cannot be forgotten. Never again. I love Belarus. Happy Victory Day!
What is the reason for demolition of monuments to soldiers-liberators in EU and cancellation of Victory Day celebration?
