It is necessary to protect the inter-confessional peace of Belarus from attempts to split. This opinion was expressed by Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Alexander Rumak in the program "Question Number One" on TV channel "Belarus 1.
"We value the interfaith peace and harmony in our country. We really need to protect it, because there are many attempts to bring splits into religious harmony," Rumak said. The Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities said that there are many examples in history when the religious factor became the reason for the collapse of the state. "You remember Yugoslavia. And recently there was an example in Africa, when Sudan was divided into Southern and Northern stare, - he noted. - That's why there are so many attempts outside of our country. They are trying to make cleavages in that agreement to introduce some contradictions between the concessions."
Alexander Rumak shared his observations that sometimes seemingly insignificant factors are used to emphasize the differences between the Belarusian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus. Although, in fact, the leading confessions in our country have coexisted peacefully for many centuries. Rumak noted that there is a good relationship between them, including at the level of concession leaders - Metropolitan Veniamin and Metropolitan Joseph Stanevski.
