Republican Special Operations Detachment of Belarusian Emergencies Ministry receives worldwide recognition

By Dmitry Luksha: Mobile rescue groups consist of professionals only. There are only 36 such units in the world. To join them, Belarusians had to undergo 4 years of hard training.


A large-scale exercise was held in the vicinity of Borisov. All operations were conducted in real time. Special operations detachment had only 36 hours to save the people who suffered from an earthquake in Rosnalia, a fictitious country in Southeast Europe. The process was monitored by delegates from Austria, Switzerland, UK, and UN and NATO representatives.


Certification of search and rescue teams around the world was introduced in 2005. In 2009, the Republican Special Operations Detachment of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry applied to participate in the program. Now Belarusians are among the best. After 36 hours of constant pressure, Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Vaschenko received the long-awaited certificate of international recognition.


In general, the Republican Special Operations Detachment is ready to perform the most complex operations and is recommended by the United Nations for responding to emergencies around the world.
