Lithuanian bloggers visit nuclear power plant to dispel fakes about our country

Learn the whole truth and bring it to their viewers and readers. Lithuanian bloggers are in Belarus these days. They visit enterprises, talk to people and are constantly convinced that their government is used to speak only in fake language about Belarus. The issue of our NPP near Ostrovets and the lies about the alleged unsafety of the plant are especially politicized.

Belarusian nuclear power plant is a restricted facility, and not everyone can get there. But today an exception is made for the Lithuanian bloggers. They have a very important and noble mission to learn, see and hear all the truth and convey it to the people of Lithuania.

It was explained in detail why Belarus staked on the peaceful atom and why the site near Ostrovets was chosen for construction. Special attention was paid to safety: it was important to show that the NPP meets all the necessary requirements.

The Lithuanians study all aspects of nuclear power in our country. They have no such opportunity in their own country. There are more and more opinions that the Ignalina NPP should not have been shut down. Now there is no talk of any energy independence, and all this affects the wallets of ordinary people.

Erika Shvyancienė, coordinator of the public association Neighborhood Forum (Lithuania):

We do not have enough cheap electricity, which we could get from you. And that is the reason for our visit here, we want to know the conditions, the possibilities. It's a sore point for us, because electricity is expensive. Everyone needs it on a daily basis and it is a big percentage of what we pay from our earnings.

Meanwhile, the use of atom for peaceful purposes gives tangible effects. The first unit of BelNPP has already produced more than 9 billion kilowatt-hours of energy. That allowed replacing more than 2 billion cubic meters of gas. Commissioning of the second power-generating unit will help to increase these figures.

Mikhail Mikhadiuk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Belarus:

The second power unit is at the commissioning stage. We are doing test and are planning to put the unit into operation this year.

Yes, Belarus is speaking openly about what is going on at our NPP. Another example, we voluntarily conducted international stress tests. We got recommendations and we actively put them into practice. But the Lithuanian authorities don't want to know that; they scare their citizens with blatant lies.

Kazimieras Juraitis, journalist (Lithuania):

A psychosis is going on. They hand out iodine pills in Vilnius, because they think the plant is about to explode. And they will survive with this iodine. In general, they say that electricity from Belarus is bad.

Žilvinas Užkuraitis, blogger (Lithuania):

Everything is negative. There can't even be any positive thoughts. Even the fact that we came here made them so angry that it condemned us to criminal proceedings. They publicly say, even through the mainstream media, that we must be criminally charged, our citizenship taken away, and other savagery.

But still bloggers do not intend to give up and are already preparing materials for YouTube and social networks. At the same time, work on the nuclear power plant continues. With the commissioning of the second unit Belarus will cover almost 40% of domestic demand for electricity. Of course, we are ready to work for export as well. If only the neighboring side would be willing.
