Joint large-scale training Zapad-2013 starts today

The joint strategic exercises of Belarus and Russia Zapad-2013 officially started on the Belarusian land. The joint training is held under the guidance of the Defense Minister of Belarus and the Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. Observers from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine will arrive by the invitation of the Belarusian party to watch the final stage of the exercises.

The Belarusian-Russian strategic exercises Zapad-2013 will last until September 26. The training of CRDF of CSTO Interaction-2013 will also take place within the framework of the Belarusian-Russian maneuvers Zapad-2013. The joint training will be attended by a total of 13.000 military men and over 350 units of combat equipment, 70 tanks and over 50 planes and helicopters.
