Trade unions suggest extending contracts to all diligent employees or even concluding open-term employment contracts.
During a meeting at one of the Minsk enterprises the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus proposed to oblige employers with this duty. Such measures, according to Mikhail Orda, will help to avoid gray schemes of job cuts, when it is conducted informally after the contract expires, and therefore without necessary payments to the benefit of the employee. However, these measures concern only motivated employees.
The trade unions propose to reconsider the rules for calculating payments to working pensioners. Part of their earnings will be transferred to the social protection fund, but their pensions will not be recalculated.
