Draft Code of Administrative Offences submitted for public discussion

Drivers are waiting for a change. The new version of the Code of Administrative Offences is under discussion these days. Perhaps one of the most discussed topics is changes in traffic rules. For several years the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been proposing to introduce penalty points for the offenses committed. According to the agency, it disciplines the violators. The points will depend on which category the particular violation falls into. For example, 1 point will be awarded for a seatbelt that is not fastened, for breaking the markings or for driving without inspection. Two points will be awarded for the violations that are much more serious: e.g. speeding more than 40 kilometers per hour. 3 points will be awarded for creating an emergency situation, unsafe overtaking, leaving the place of accident. Also there is a list of violations, for which points will not be awarded. For example, driving a car with an unreadable number, breaking the rules of stopping and parking, lack of insurance, speeding up to 20 km/h, and others. Points will not be awarded ащк DUI, because such behavior on the road automatically deprives the driver of the right to drive for 3 years.
