Lukashenko signs decree on declaration of Year of Historical Memory

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on the declaration of 2022 as the Year of Historical Memory. The signing ceremony was aired on TV during the broadcast of the President's New Year address to the Belarusian people, BelTA informs.

The President signed the document in his office at the Palace of Independence. The decree says that the Year of Historical Memory is declared with a view to forming objective attitude of society to the historical past, preserving and strengthening the unity of the Belarusian people.

The Council of Ministers, the Prosecutor General's Office, the National Academy of Sciences, regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee have been instructed to develop and approve the national plan of action for the Year of Historical Memory in 2022. In addition, it is instructed to coordinate the activities of government agencies and other organizations to implement the plan. The decree  will comes into force after its official publication.
