19 августа 2022
Today, the Feast of the Transfiguration or Apple Feast is celebrated in the Orthodox calendar. Churches hold divine services, which recall the Gospel event that occurred on Mount Tabor, when Jesus Christ showed his disciples his divine glory. After the liturgy, the faithful consecrate the new harvest: apples, pears, plums, and grapes.

The Orthodox continue the Lent of Assumption. But today, on the day of the great feast it is allowed to have fish and wine.
