Over 600 football fans have already taken the advantage of a special visa-free regime to go to Russia via Belarus. As reported by the State Border Committee, these are guests from 30 countries, including the US, Australia, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, Ghana, Costa Rica, and Uruguay who travel by plane, train, or car.
For the duration of the FIFA World Cup, Belarus and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on the entry of foreign citizens to international sports events without visas. About 150,000 people are expected to cross the Belarusian border this time.
