Victory day celebrations have started in Minsk Region with a solemn march at the Mound of Glory.

More than 80 natives and residents of the region were awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union for their courage and heroism. Today, veterans and descendants of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War laid flowers and observed a moment of silence to commemorate the soldiers who did not return from the front.

Nikolai Kozyrev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War: "I am overwhelmed by the feelings of the Great Victory, I met this day in Berlin, and now I am thinking about my comrades-in-arms."

The celebration at the memorial continued at thematic venues. Songs were sung, and all the participants could treat themselves to soldiers’ tea and porridge. Theatrical performances and reconstructions of military events were arranged for the guests of the festive events.
