Today, the Orthodox celebrate the Transfiguration of Christ - one of the 12 most important holidays in the church calendar. It is a day when, according to the Gospel, Jesus Christ ascended Mount Tabor and demonstrated his divine essence.

It is also a holiday known as the Savior of the Apple Feast Day, a holiday of gardens and a new harvest of fruits. Today churches consecrate apples, pears, grapes. Festive liturgies are held in churches.
