Belarus imposes retaliatory sanctions on the EU
Our country is a supporter of peace and dialogue, and confrontation is categorically unacceptable, the Foreign Ministry said today. Belarus is forced to respond to the unfriendly actions and take measures to protect national interests. Our country's ambassadors to Lithuania and Poland are withdrawn for consultations. Visa sanctions are also being introduced.
Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Department of Information and Digital Diplomacy - Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "In connection with the visa sanctions adopted by the EU against a number of Belarusian officials, the Belarusian side is now adopting a retaliatory list of sanctions. In accordance with the established civilised diplomatic practice, we will not publish it. The single list of banned persons also applies to integration associations to which Belarus belongs."
Similar restrictions are also imposed on a number of British and Canadian officials
Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Department of Information and Digital Diplomacy - Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "Of course, maybe we are wrong and the UK position is impartial and fair. But according to the BBC, since April 17, 2019 alone, the plans of half a million people were violated because of the protests. For some reason, neither the authorities of London nor the police considered the protesters to be the British people, or entered into an inclusive dialogue with them on the transfer of power, or resigned. But they did everything in their power to ensure public order and the rights of the majority.
The Foreign Ministry begins re-registering foreign journalists
The MFA also announced the re-registration of foreign media representatives accredited in our country. The rules have been updated in order to ensure information sovereignty of Belarus. The accreditation cards issued earlier are officially no longer valid from today.
