The need to reveal the facts of the history of the Great Patriotic War and not to hush up the truth about the hard-hitting aspects of the biographies of some of our compatriots was stressed at the meeting of political scientists, analysts in Minsk. The roundtable participants touched upon topical issues of preserving historical memory and countering the glorification of Nazism. The lack of information on collaborators in school history textbooks became the hitting point. Belarusians should know about the traitors involved in the extermination of their population and draw this information, not from the Internet, but official textbooks based on confirmed facts and archival documents of history.
Vadim Lakiza, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: "There are very few direct participants in the Great Patriotic War, World War II, but great-grandfathers and grandfathers left history in stories and this story is very important to preserve and pass on to the young generation.13-40 other states think that they have unleashed a war about their national interests. We were in the center of Europe all the time. We should prevent the falsification of history to preserve the historical truth in this war."
The meeting also discussed the return to school and university educational programs of a wide range of humanitarian disciplines. History, social studies, and jurisprudence, ethics and aesthetics, cultural objects form a person's worldview.
