By Alexei Martinionok: About 3 billion dollars has already been invested in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The schedule of the construction works has been fully confirmed by the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation. The first power unit will be launched in 2019, and the second one - in 2020. The reactor vessel will be delivered from Russia in September. And while the NPP is being built, the town of Ostrovets continues to develop.

At the moment, the town already has neat three-story houses, new streets, cafes, and restaurants. And, of course, the construction site. Next year, they plan to open a hospital. Next to it is a kindergarten, which will start working in a couple of weeks.

The work at the construction site is in full swing. Over 5,000 people work here. A lot of attention is paid to the control of work, especially now that most of the construction has already been done.

This project of Rosatom is one of the safest of the currently existing ones. Experts point out that roughly a half of all the costs of the construction is invested in security.

The NPP has already been visited by the IAEA officials. Every month, the highest Belarusian officials come here to inspect it. Today, the Belarusian NPP was visited by experts and journalists from Russia. Most of them are experienced people, and this isn’t their first time that they visit such an object. So their impressions are also objective.

Three years ago, this site received the status of the all-Belarusian youth construction site. So for the students who worked here, today is kind of a sad day. Their work semester is over. During this time, the students both worked and rested. They even arranged three unofficial weddings - as they did during the 14 February flash mob. They all will now have something to remember, and also, they will be able to say that they had an opportunity to work on a number of objects at the unique construction site.
