In Minsk, the servicemen, the leadership of the State Border Committee and the veterans laid flowers to the Victory Monument in the center of the capital, after which the parade moved to the Island of Tears, to commemorate the soldiers-internationalists. The President sent greetings to the command, personnel, veterans of the Border Guard Service of the country.
Today, thousands of soldiers and officers of the department are guarding the state border. They control about two thousand kilometers of the state border with the CIS countries and the European Union.
