President meets with Belarusian peacekeepers
Our peacekeepers, as part of CSTO forces, took part in the operation aimed at settling the crisis situation in this Central Asian republic. Ten planes with Belarusian servicemen on board have landed the day before. The operation in Kazakhstan has become the first case when the CSTO peacekeeping forces were actually involved in ensuring the security and integrity of one of the member states. The head of state welcomed servicemen to their native land, noting the successful completion of the peacekeeping mission, which made a significant contribution to stabilizing the situation in Kazakhstan.
The events in the Republic of Kazakhstan are just another attempt of external interference in the internal affairs of independent states, said Alexander Lukashenko. The threats faced by Kazakhstan are common to most post-Soviet states. The success of the mission, the Belarusian leader is convinced, can be regarded as the emergence of an effective mechanism to combat the so-called color revolutions. Today the President disclosed the details of preparations to the CSTO operation in Kazakhstan.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
The entire operation, down to the last detail, was developed by the two presidents of Russia and Belarus within one hour. The plan was outlined, the defense ministries under Shoigu and Khrenin detailed the plan of the two Presidents in the general staffs, and within hours the first planes flew to Kazakhstan. Everything was done quickly and decisively, without hesitation.
The most important indicator of the peacekeeping mission's success is the return of the full composition of soldiers. We know that the peacekeepers were a separate target for the insurgents. The commander of a peacekeeping company told journalists about the invaluable experience the servicemen gained during the operation in Kazakhstan.
Igor Gil, commander of a peacekeeping company of the 103rd Detached Guards Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus:
The most important thing is that we gained invaluable combat experience. Yes, it was really difficult at times, but it worked out well. Everything was very similar to the exercises.
Defense Minister: Belarusian peacekeepers performed their tasks in Kazakhstan with excellence
While addressing the contingent personnel, Viktor Khrenin said that Belarusian military fulfilled their tasks in an excellent way. We know the price of peace. Belarusian peacekeepers will continue to be exemplary in performing their military duty.
