Almost 80 percent of Belarusians trust President

According to a survey conducted by the Information and Analytical Centre, almost 80 percent of Belarus’ residents trust the country’s President. As for the degree of trust, 45.3 percent of the respondents said they “fully trusted” and 34.2 percent “rather trust”.

Speeches of the candidates in the media caused the greatest interest in the election campaign in 42.7 percent of the citizens, while the candidate debates sparked the interest of 35.6 percent. Community-based meetings between the candidates and voters caused interest among 26 percent of the citizens and meetings with labour collectives interested almost 20 percent of the voters.

The availability of information on the Internet and online newsletters stirred the least Interest.

Almost 69 percent of the voters believe that the results of the presidential elections in Belarus will be recognised by OSCE observers; 19 percent could not answer the question and only 12 believe that the international observers will not recognise the election results.

Answering why the results will be recognised by the OSCE observers, 68 percent of the voters said “because it is the people's choice”.
