The ceremony took place in the heart of the citadel, near the "Courage" monument. The memory of the heroes who were dying in June 1941, but did not surrender, was honored with a moment of silence. After that, a military band played the anthems of the two countries - Belarus and Russia. The capsule, in which the Flame will be carried, has a special device that will keep the flame on throughout the journey. At night, the Flame will be taken from the Brest Fortress to the Church of the Armed Forces of Russia. And exactly at four o'clock in the morning, 1,418 candles will be lit: one for each day of the Great Patriotic War.
