The first service was held in the new church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, built in the village of Zakhody, Shklov District. Archbishop of Mogilev and Mstislavl conducted the service.

The construction of the church took three years. It was financed by donations from parishioners and patrons of art. The new church became a model of wooden architecture and one of the highest in the region – it is almost 30 metres high.

Andrei Rybakov, the rector of the Church of the Transfiguration in the city of Shklov:

"The team that worked on the construction of this church was truly international. People from Ukraine, Russia and Moldova helped us a lot to build it."

Eight bells made by the famous workshop of Ilya Drozdikhin decorate the church, as well as new icons painted in Greece. Relics of St. Nicholas were also delivered to the church.
