In the framework of the 205th session of the Executive Council of the UN specialized Agency for education, science and culture, a speech on behalf of the delegation of the Republic of Belarus was delivered by the ambassador, permanent representative of our country to UNESCO Pavel Latushko at UNESCO Headquarters. In his speech, he welcomed the reforms carried out in the organization by the new Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay.
Pavel Latushko, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, permanent representative of Belarus to UNESCO: "Unfortunately, inter-religious and inter-ethnic conflicts are expanding in the world today. It is very important for us today to show the world community that there are examples when representatives of different nationalities and religions can coexist in the territory of one country. Belarus is an example of this. This will be our contribution to the International organization UNESCO. We plan to show the international exhibition project: Belarus, religions, tolerance in the near future together with the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus in different European countries, including UNESCO."
The Ambassador of Belarus also expressed gratitude to UNESCO for the successful implementation of a number of joint projects. Pavel Latushko informed about the completion of the preparation of the next project, the publication in of Russian translation of the "Handbook on the protection of cultural property in armed conflicts".
