Parliamentary delegation of Russia visits Brest Fortress

Valentina Matvienko praised Belarus’s contribution to preserving the common memory of the heroic deed in the Great Patriotic War. The head of the Federation Council visited the Brest Fortress today as part of the official visit of the Russian parliamentary delegation to our country. Distinguished guests, speaker of the Upper House of the Belarusian parliament Natalia Kochanova laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and honored the memory of the heroes with a moment of silence. They also visited the Museum of War. The object was built by joint efforts of the Belarusian and Russian sides. The exposition was located in the Southeast Barracks of the Citadel. The politicians talked with veterans during the tour. 

Natalia Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "This is the foundation for building our state: the memory of those terrible events that took place more than once in our native Belarus must be cherished. We are obliged to preserve this memory and pass on to other generations."

Natalia Kochanova and Valentina Matvienko warmly communicated with the veterans in order to thank each soldier of the Great Patriotic War for the victory.
