Memory of Holocaust victims honored in Berezovsky District

A black page of history: on the day of the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Brest ghetto, the memory of the victims of the Holocaust was honored in the Berezovsky District. Bronnaya Gora is a place where the forest literally grows on the bones. More than 50 thousand people are buried on an area of two hectares. This is one of the largest mass graves of the World War II in all of Europe. Jews from Brest, Kobrin, Bereza and other towns in Belarus were brought in wagons to the local railway station. Their belongings were taken away and they were shot. The bodies were stacked on top of each other. According to some reports, the occupiers killed 17,000 children on Bronnaya Hill.

They will soon begin building a memorial at the site of the tragedy. Sculptural compositions will appear on Bronnaya Gora, including a carriage similar to those in which Jews were transported. All this will emphasize the pain and tragedy of the sad events and once again remind visitors to the memorial of the lesson that must not be forgotten.
