The open dialogue "For Our Happy Childhood" united more than a thousand Belarusian children and children from Donbas. The meeting was held at the National Press Center with almost 100 online connections from different cities of the country. The speakers were guys who found temporary refuge from the fighting in Belarus. Some of them were not just eyewitnesses - they themselves had been wounded and miraculously escaped. They compared the situation in their home country with the quiet reality in Belarus. They told about their hobbies and plans for the future, if peace comes to their territory again.

Yaroslav Aksenov, resident of Donetsk:

“Since the 10th grade I dream of becoming a rescuer, to enter the Academy of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation. The only condition holding me back now is my wound and my injury, which I received on May 29, 2022. After I was wounded I was taken to a hospital in Donetsk. There I had an operation, and then I was discharged and went to my relatives in Russia.”

Maria Tkachenko, resident of Donetsk:

“I see Belarus and I see the DNR. In DNR some people are in distress. It is all very difficult for us. And here people walk happily and it is so pleasant. And when you realize that in your home country there is no such thing, on the contrary, it's sad.”

Alena Levitskaya, the accompanying leader of the organized group of children from Donbass at the Dubrava Children's Health Camp:

“Children have a completely different psyche, it is very flexible. Here the children breathed in a completely different way. It felt like we turned the page of a book and a new tale, a new story began.”

The dialogue between the children from Donbass and the Belarusian youth lasted over an hour. All the young speakers expressed a desire to come back to our country again.
