The remains of civilians, shot by the Nazis, were reburied in the agro-town Putrishki in Grodno Region, BelTA informs.
During search operations and excavations, some bone remains, including those with bullet holes, as well as items and personal belongings of the dead, were found near the village in the woods as part of an investigation initiated by the General Prosecutor's Office. The remains of ammunition, which was in service with the troops of the Wehrmacht, were also found there. It was established that the dead were civilians. According to investigators, more than 300 people were shot by the Nazis at this site since June 24, 1941. There are many indications that civilians were shot at close range. Most of the dead had their hands and feet bound with wire.
"Initially, a commemorative plaque was erected at the shooting site. But it went no further, and the location of the shootings was not found. Now as a result of the investigation of the case, interrogation of people, searches using the capabilities of the 52nd separate specialized search battalion, the place of burial has been found. The remains of 36 people have been identified," said Deputy Prosecutor General Sergei Khmaruk.
