On 12-13 December, the 2nd Congress of Belarusian scientists will take place. The forum is expected to bring together about 500 scientists.
The participants will discuss their plans for next 20 years. Belarus is a promising IT-country, which is why among the priorities is mass production of electric vehicles, the development of robotics and artificial intelligence systems, and the development and launch of ultra-small nano-satellites. Massive breakthroughs are expected in medicine, too. Scientists will work on new ways of treating HIV and hepatitis C, as well as drugs used for cancer treatment.
The main task is to be able compete on the world market in a number of ways. The draft document takes into account the opinions of scientists, government agencies and working groups. In the course of the implementation of this strategy, by 2040, the GDP science intensity should reach 3%.
