The 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing and the 135th anniversary of the birth of Yanka Kupala will be the main themes of the International Book Fair to launch in Minsk on 8 February. The four-day event will feature over 300 seminars, large-scale forums and informal meetings. Besides, the winners of 2016 literary contests will be awarded in Minsk. The International Book Fair is also planned to discuss the promotion of Belarusian books abroad.
9,500 works were published in Belarus in 2016, over 1,000 of them being in the Belarusian language. Many of the books will be represented at the International Book Fair, admission to which will be free.
