The thermal and transport processes in systems with nano- and microstructures, plasma systems and technologies, and thermal management of optical and electronic systems are the subject of the 16th Minsk International Forum on Heat and Mass Transfer. Abound 200 speakers from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and South Korea share their latest developments. For example, the development of small-size plasma engines that can control micro and nano satellites is of great interest. For this purpose, we need simple, but at the same time absolutely reliable plasma engines that perform all functions. By the way, the demand for joint work of our and Russian colleagues is growing. The reason for this is sanctions and the unjustified policy of the West.

Since Soviet times, scientists at the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences have been testing protective materials for spacecrafts and vehicles, when they enter the upper atmosphere of the planets. In addition, the institution's laboratories have special equipment for finishing the surfaces of optical parts. This technology makes it possible to polish surfaces to a very high quality. It is also used for polishing medical instruments. This year the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer will celebrate its 70th anniversary.
