The most mysterious museum will open today after restoration in the Brest Fortress. Tourists will be able to wander through the underground labyrinths and see the life of a soldier during the times of the Russian Empire and World War II. The fortification was part of the citadel. The fort is surrounded by water and this created difficulties during the restoration. The builders had to make rafts to get to the fort. The emphasis was made on making the site as authentic as possible. Even small details, such as benches and doors, have been recreated. The architects had to study the old drawings in the archives for this.
The tourist attraction is in the underground corridors. The soldiers hid in them during the shelling. They also stored provisions and ammunition. It will be possible to go down only with a guide.
