24 июля 2017

Lipki will replace Borovoye and take over part of the functions of the closed airport Minsk-1. The modernization cost is $ 10 million. It will feature a modern runway with a length of more than 700 meters, a heated aviation hangar and a training center. The airfield in Lipki will fully comply with international standards, and flights can be performed at any time of the year. It has new light-signaling equipment and an automatic meteorological station. There is also a place for a park zone, a hotel, a cafe and a shop.

The official opening of the airfield is planned for the next year, before the start of the World Championship in helicopter sport. The championship will bring together teams from two dozen countries. Last time Belarus hosted these competitions in 1978.
