CIS united air defence system marks 21st anniversary

For 21 years the military of the friendly countries have together been protecting their airspace, close cooperation between Belarus and Russia being of key importance. The development of relations has allowed to carry out repairs, rearmament and the purchase of new equipment units.

It is planned to replace MiG-29 fighter planes with Su-30 by 2020.

In addition, the Belarusian army will receive the 4th division of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system and the 4th Tor M-2 battery. Preparations for the joint exercise Combat Commonwealth 2017 are underway.

The CIS united air defence system currently includes 6 Belarusian anti-aircraft missile units, 3 airbases and 2 radio-technical brigades. About 600 soldiers go on combat air defence duty daily.
