Belarus Minister of Agriculture and Food tells about tasks for MART in 2022

16 февраля 2022
The MART will tighten control over the observance of the price legislation in Belarus. This was stated by Minister Alexei Bogdanov. A lot of retail facilities are checked. Violations are revealed in about 10% of them, which is not much. Work will be carried out in the markets. The main thing is that the products remained  accessible to the consumer. Today the ministry held a final board and outlined the objectives for this year.

At the beginning of the year, many customers have noticed that the goods from the consumer goods basket have become more expensive. MART states that winter price increase is a seasonal phenomenon. But now the so-called imported inflation continues to have an impact. The cost of production is rising for producers who import fodder and fertilizers. To keep the situation in the market under control, the regulator has introduced a number of measures, including price regulation. But this mechanism alone is not enough.

The opportunity to influence the price on the shelf also gave rise to an agreement on a social discount, which was signed with retail chains at the end of January. But along with the consumer, it is important to consider the position of manufacturers. The authorities are interested in business development, in earning more and investing in the country's economy in the form of taxes. By the way, today the country produces and grows enough for everyone, and there is still enough left for export.

Goods at affordable prices

Storage and sales costs were taken into account when introducing maximum price caps on vegetables. This measure will be valid until May, until the new harvest. The main thing is that people should always have the product at an affordable price. This will be the focus of MART's activities this year.
