New strategy to combat drug trafficking developed in Minsk today

One of the main problems - narcotization of the international community by the Afghan drug production - still has not been solved. The statement was made at the 14th meeting of the CSTO coordinating council on combating drug trafficking. It is necessary to develop a new anti-drug stance in the Eurasian space. Therefore, a 2013-2020 strategy on combating drug trafficking was adopted in Minsk.

By Alexander Savenko: The CSTO member states intend to act as sole guarantors of the continent's anti-drug security. A special operations center will be established in the near future. The meeting participants also defined a drugs strategy for 2013-2020.

Belarus put forward an initiative to amend the UN Convention. The proposal concerns the list of new chemical drugs, updated on a daily basis. Belarusian law enforcers proposed to introduce the concept of basic chemical structure. By the way, the initiative was supported by all members of the CSTO coordinating council.
