National plan to improve situation of children approved in Belarus

National Action Plan to improve the situation of children and to protect their rights for 2022-2026 was approved by the Council of Ministers № 490 of July 25, 2022, informs the National Legal Internet Portal.

The National Plan is a program document aimed at implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child of November 20, 1989, as well as the creation of conditions to protect the rights and legitimate interests of children, free and effective participation of children and young people in the political, social, economic and cultural development of the state and society.

134 activities are planned.

In particular, it is informing the population on current issues of national legislation on the rights of the child, combating child abuse and explaining the responsibility of minors for committing offenses. The interdepartmental thematic activities aimed at improving the legal literacy and legal culture of children and adolescents will be carried out. It is planned to carry out work related to improving the professional competence of teachers of educational institutions on legal and informational culture. For this purpose, educational institutions will be equipped with printed legal publications. It is also planned to develop mediation services in educational institutions, to carry out programs of financial literacy and bring economic education of children and teenagers to a new level.

The decree enters into force after its official publication.
