By Olga Kholodovich: 2015 was a record-breaking year for the number of newborns. Birth rate in the Gomel region has been increasing for the past 12 years, with half of the newborns being second, third and fourth children. Gomel, Zhlobin, Mozyr and Narovlya are for the first time in many years seeing a natural population increase.
Over 18,500 children were born in the Gomel region last year, which is the highest since 1994. For the first time in 20 years, nearly 120,000 children were born in Belarus in 2015.
