The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has signed an agreement on cooperation with the State Committee for Forensic Expertise. The cooperation will be maintained in a number of directions. Experts will be able to use the DNA bank of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology in conducting a scientific study in forensic genomic examinations. The Powder Metallurgy Institute will provide access for experts to its equipment to investigate failures of parts of various vehicles (brakes, for example).

Andrei Shved, the Chairman of the State Committee for Forensic Expertise of Belarus:

"Today, we are working with the NAS on a project that will allow us in 1.5-2 years to obtain information on the biological traces of an unknown criminal about his age, sex, eye color, hair, the size of the nose, ears, and other parameters that our law enforcers will need in order to detain the suspect."

Also, the Forensic Committee is interested in developing computer programmes based on self-learning algorithms. In IT, this technology is called an artificial neural network. Such software products based on artificial intelligence are in demand in many areas - for example, for the purpose of prompt identification of a person by numerous databases.
