Chiefs of Staff of CIS Armed Forces discuss military cooperation

Baku hosted a meeting of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces , First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus, Major-General Viktor Gulevich. This was reported to BelTA by the Ministry of Defense.

The session participants listened to the report of the Russian party on the military and political situation in the world and the main tendencies of its development. The heads of delegations also discussed issues related to practical issues of development of the CBRN Joint Assessment Team; the structure, material and technical equipment, and operating principles of the Joint Humanitarian Demining Engineering Unit of the armed forces of the CIS member states; and the holding in 2023 of the Joint training with live fire of the troops (forces) of the united air defense system of the CIS member states "Battle of the Commonwealth".

The participants of the meeting have also considered the draft work plan of the council of the defense ministers of the CIS countries for 2023.

Viktor Tumar, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, delivered a report on "Giving the Scientific Research Institute of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus of the status of a basic research organization of the Commonwealth of Independent States to study problems of military security".

The decisions adopted at the meeting will contribute to elaboration of common approaches and mechanisms to develop military cooperation of the CIS countries.
