Miory and Sharkovshchina Districts of Vitebsk Region are famous for their rich harvest of wild berries. Large bog-lake complex Yelnya is located here. Cranberries are bought by state purveyors and private traders. Now the purchase price is significantly higher than at the beginning of the season.
Alena Klimentyeva, berry picker: "Local people who are familiar with the place, walk far and pick up quickly. Someone picks up 4 buckets already by lunchtime."
Irina Fedukovich, commodity expert of Verkhnedvinsk branch of Vitebsk Regional Consumer Society: "We sell cranberries at price of 3,50 rubles. We have already prepared 900 kg of cranberries in Miory District".
The area of Elnya reserve is 25 000 hectares. Rare plants like cloudberry and round-leaved sundew grow there.
