Defense Ministers of Belarus and Russia held a bilateral meeting in Moscow. Viktor Khrenin and Sergey Shoigu discussed the military-political situation, military-technical cooperation between the two agencies, preparation for the joint operational exercise "Union Shield - 2023" and issues of patriotic education of youth.
Sergey Shoigu, Russian Defense Minister: "Circumstances dictate the need to take urgent measures to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Union State of Russia and Belarus and the unified air defense system, which is becoming more and more urgent in the current circumstances. And we are ready to help our Belarusian friends. Together with you we have looked at everything that is related to the creation of new centers, in particular our Avangard Center, and what you are doing in your country. We will give you all kinds of support and assistance and hope that in the near future our friends will have such a center as well."
Tomorrow the sides plan to discuss NATO's military activity near the western borders and the corresponding response measures.
