In connection with the unprecedented restrictive measures against Belarus imposed by the European Union, the head of the EU mission in our country, Dirk Schuebel, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs June 28. The Ambassador of the European Union was familiarized with the firm position of the Belarusian party about the absolute unacceptability of the application of sanctions as an instrument of pressure on a sovereign and independent state. "The Republic of Belarus has suspended its participation in the EU initiative Eastern Partnership. Belarus begins to implement the procedure for suspension of the readmission agreement with the EU. We cannot fulfill our obligations under this agreement amid the sanctions and restrictions imposed by the European Union. We deeply regret to state that the forced suspension of the agreement will have a negative impact on cooperation with the European Union in the fight against illegal migration and organized crime," reads the statement of the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. The Head of the EU Delegation in Belarus was also invited to leave for Brussels for consultations to inform his leadership about the unacceptability of pressure and sanctions. Representatives of European institutions and individuals from the EU countries, who contributed to the introduction of restrictive measures, will be denied entry to Belarus. The Foreign Ministry expressed the wish that the EU officials realized the inferiority and futility of the decisions to use force in relations with Belarus.
