On Victory Day memorial Breakthrough was opened after extensive reconstruction in Vitebsk region.
This place keeps the memory of the heroism of partisans during the blockade in May 1944. They were able to bring 15 thousand civilians out of the German encirclement. The enemy forces were almost fourfold superior.
Thousands of people expressed their gratitude to veterans in Vitebsk. Flowers were laid by the Eternal Flame in Victory Square, troops of Vitebsk garrison marched there.
There are a lot of young families with children in the streets of the city. Boys are pleased with a parade of military hardware. Now everyone is waiting for the climax of the festival. At 22:00 the sky will be colored by volleys of fireworks.
