Media Forum opens in Minsk today

The legacy of the Great Victory has become a central topic of discussion at the forum. The development of the mass media in the era of new geopolitical realities and the degree of responsibility of a journalist and journalism were discussed today at the Media Forum in Minsk.

By Ksenia Rabchinskaya: About five hundred experts, managers and practicing journalists from 25 countries and hundreds of media resources gathered in the National Library. The event is newsworthy. Its main theme is the legacy of the great victory.

The dialogue that lasted for many hours dealt with almost everything that is touched upon today in newspapers, on radio talk shows, on television. Minsk has long been a platform for new contacts and even agreements on specific joint projects.

Mikhail Gusman, First Deputy Director General of ITAR-TASS: "We created a common site “Association of national information agencies” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory, a number of books were published, we hold workshops, meetings, training sessions, it's all within the profession, it is the common task."

Photo projects dedicated to the Great Victory were presented here as well. The discussion ended late in the afternoon, but its work is not finished.

The Media Forum will be followed by a Summer School of Journalism. Tomorrow the experts from Belarus and Eurasian countries will hold a master class for future journalists in the Belarusian State University. Afterwards the foreign guests will be able to go on excursions in the Brest fortress and memorial complex "Khatyn".
