Control over pricing, inflation forecast, protection of domestic producers were talked over with the President today.

Alexander Lukashenko discussed issues important for every Belarusian family with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. Supporting the economy during the pandemic is a complex task for everyone. First of all, it is important to saturate the market with domestic goods at affordable prices. And especially the prices of essential goods must be tightly controlled. The head of state has repeatedly emphasized this. Special attention is paid to import substitution, expanding the range of goods that we can produce on our own.

Since March last year, Belarus has been taking measures to regulate price. Resolutions of the Council of Ministers and MART are in force that set maximum trade mark-ups, including for importers, profitability for the manufacturer, they determine the final retail price. Control over the unjustified rise in prices for socially important goods has also been organized. This list also includes medicines that are in use at a difficult epidemic time.

There are still risks of an increase in the cost of socially significant goods, due to the negative impact of the pandemic on the growth of world prices. Therefore, MART decided to extend their regulation in Belarus until the end of June.

Now MART, together with the ministries of industry, economy and the BelCCI, is working out approaches to defining the concept of "domestic goods" in order to further improve the public procurement system. Domestic manufacturers will receive more benefits for access to government orders, purchases, participation in tenders and other types of benefits. A similar system began to work on the EAEU market this year, the list includes 43 Belarusian enterprises.
