MART: Nicotinic mixtures sales need to be limited

15 января 2020
Nicotine mixtures will be banned for adolescents. The proposals of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade  on the introduction of restrictions on the sale were discussed today by representatives of government agencies, businesses and manufacturers.

A meeting of the Public Advisory Council was held at the ministry, where the draft Resolution was discussed. Norms are primarily aimed at maintaining the health of young people.

Nicotine mixtures market segment has been growing recently in Belarus. And the most dangerous thing is that they have an uncontrolled nicotine content and there are no restrictions on turnover. So children can buy these mixtures. The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade instantly responded to this situation and just a month and a half ago age-related restrictions on sales of these mixtures were imposed. The draft resolution was agreed with state bodies, and also submitted for public discussion. And today they asked the opinion of business and manufacturers.

The Public Advisory Council is  a platform for dialogue on legislative innovations. This resolution was developed quickly, life itself encouraged to work efficiently, the minister said. After all, there were already the first cases of poisoning, due to an overabundance of the active substance.

Thus, the manufacturers also propose making amendments to the Administrative Code, in order to subsequently fine those who violate the new rules.

The draft of our resolution, which introduces restrictions on the sale of nicotine mixtures, after approval by colleagues from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Gosstandart, the Customs Committee and other departments, will be evaluated for regulatory impact. Within a month, they plan to submit it to the Government.
