Belarus is the western outpost for Russia. And today there is a very big threat that the Western attackers will try to penetrate through Belarus into Ukraine. Therefore, it is very important for Belarus to strengthen border control, border troops, to organize the border and strengthen counter-terrorist work.
Andrey Manoilo, a Russian political scientist and professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, shared his opinion:
There is a threat of terrorists, extremists and mercenaries penetrating to the territory of Belarus. They can use the transit routes through the republic in order to get to Ukraine. In doing so, they will change passports and legends. And one wave of transit of these mercenaries is likely to take place right now, when they will be transferred to the territory of Ukraine by different routes to take part in the counterattack against Russian troops. In this respect, the threat is very great. There is no less of a threat associated with the transit of weapons, which, together with the mercenaries, can be transported to the territory of Ukraine. And there is a great threat of terrorists, extremists and mercenaries settling down when they get to the territory of Belarus. It is quite possible that if some mercenaries cross the border with Ukraine, they will settle in the territory of Belarus for some time. They can also organize sleeper cells. So this is a serious threat, primarily of a terrorist nature.
