M1-Brest-Minsk-Russian border highway will soon undergo a large-scale reconstruction. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is preparing its concept. The works on the entire length, which is more than 600 kilometers, will be carried out in stages. Animals, pedestrians and cyclists won’t be able to go on the road.

Another strategic direction for Belarus is R53 highway, which connects the capital with Smolevichi, Zhodino and Borisov. The entire highway will have four lanes.

Alexey Avramenko, Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus: "We are introducing the first section, 6 kilometers, the road will be of the first category, made of cement. Next year, we will introduce the second section connecting Smolevichi. This is a very important area, and our task today is to prepare a project to finance this road in the direction of Zhodino and Borisov."

Another important transport updated artery is R23 Minsk-Mikashevichi highway. The section of road from Slutsk to Soligorsk will become four-laned. The work will be completed by the end of next year.
